PLANT SYSTEMS PHYSIOLOGY LAB
Research
Introduction on main research area

Plant Bioinformatics
Bioinformatic tools are versatile to reveal the various molecular biological concepts even without conducting the experiments. Our lab mainly focus on the bioinformatic/AI-based identification of key genes associated with plant physiology. Some of the examples are followed.
1. Identification of key genes associated with plant physiology.
2. Protein-based identification of noble plant enzymes.
3. AI-based prediction of plant physiology or diversity.
4. Evolutionary tract of plant genes.
Alternative crop physiology
Climate crisis has arrived and many of the crop plants such as Korean cabbage are at risk. One way of cope with this problem is to find a close relative species which already has adapted to the high temperature or other non-favorable environments. Our lab is focusing on several plant species to reveal their basic physiology, utility as a food ingredient and cultivation suitability in Korea. Some of the ongoing researches are followed.
1. Ethiopian cabbage physiology
2. Kimchi biology associated both Korean and Ethiopian cabbage
3. Outlook on the domestication of some domestic plants

Plant biology
in atmospheric plasma treatment
Atmospheric low temperature plasma has been fascinating tool in both medical and semiconductor industry. Agricultural field also applied the atmospheric plasma and revealed many effects such as germination induction of seeds, buds to growth enhancement. Yet, the detailed mechanism was not documented so far. Our lab study on how the plasma modulates plant system to convey such effects.
